The Sturgis Church of God has a long history. In 1919 evangelist,
C. L. Taylor held a tent revival on the west side of Sturgis in Grangertown. From that revival, the church was organized on the 4th of July that same year. Clara Reese Miller was appointed as the first Pastor.
